Home > 10 Top Tips For A Healthy New Year

1.    Try to use pure skin products. Why? Because 60% of what you put on your skin goes into your bloodstream.

2.    Try not to skip meals. Why? It will slow down your metabolism so you could put on weight. It will also cause a dip in your blood glucose levels, leading to a dip in energy, less ability to cope and put you on a short fuse.

3.    Buy organic vegetable juice to have daily or get yourself a juicer. Why? Because it alkalises your body, making you less susceptible to disease.

4.    Drink at least 1.5L water every day. Why? It transports the toxins removed by your liver out of your body otherwise they will be dumped inside your body.

5.    Make sure you have enough zinc in your diet. Why? It boosts your immune system. It can be found in oysters, red meat, poultry, nuts and seeds; or take zinc tablets.

6.    Cut out dairy products if you are prone to headaches, fatigue, bad skin, bad wind or nose and throat congestion. Why? You may notice a difference in your health, if you cut it out for a month to see. You can have sweetened (with apple juice) soya milk instead, which is sold in supermarkets and healthstores. Avoid the unsweetened kind as it tastes like liquid cardboard.

7.    Take omega 3 oil daily (in capsule form if you prefer). Why? It’s liquid engineering for the human body. It’s also very anti-inflammatory.

8.    Keep stress levels within healthy limits by exercising (even a brisk walk) and taking a mild herbal sedative, which won’t make you drowsy. Why? High stress levels can impact your immunity and leave you open to infection. How many times have you gone down with an infection after a period of stress?

9.    Try not to eat late in the evening. Why? Because you will not have time to digest your dinner, which can lead to indigestion, acid reflux and poor quality of sleep. Also, you will be more likely to lay it down as fat on your body.

10.    Boost your liver function with beetroot juice (waitrose) and a herbal supplement. Why? Your liver is your filter and needs to be maintained like any other filter (cars, washing machines, dishwashers etc), particularly after the excesses of Christmas and the New Year celebrations. It will boost your energy and get rid of that sluggish feeling.
